Alice Cooper is one the most famous American rock singers and songwriters, with a large contribution to the genre and to the start of other rock bands. Born in 1948, in Detroit, under the real name, Vincent Damon Furnier, Alice Cooper first came into the music stage as part of the Alice Cooper band, in 1969. He continued with a solo career under this name and has, since, developed in other show-business areas, such as film (with cameos) and radio (the Nights with Alice Cooper show). He is credited to have started and influenced the careers of many other musicians and to have initiated the usage of props in rock performances, like guillotines, dolls and fake blood. His extravagant appearance is matched by his unique voice and the live shows he puts on.

So far, Alice Cooper has had a prolific career and is still going strong, releasing 26 studio albums, 21 compilations and 8 live albums. His next expansions to other fields led him into having a film career and a live radio show. Welcome 2 My Nightmare, released in 2011, is his latest album, that has turned into a live tour, like many other albums before. Alice Cooper is a rock legend for many, as, through his persona and his acts, he managed to make a mark in rock history. The music he writes deals with rock themes, such as death, horror, violence and blood, but has a originality of its own and a personal, subjective image of these frequently used symbols. The performances show cased by Alice Cooper are based on the element of shock, as most rockers tend to express themselves. Concert appearances feature leather outfits and a specific make-up for his eyes, props that come to complete the lyrics of his songs or to delight and frighten spectators at the same time. Alice Cooper uses all ranges of baby-dolls, snakes and torture means (for example, electric chairs), all these accompanied and usually covered in blood.

Alice Cooper continues to shock and thrill music lovers all over the world with his albums and live performances. His legendary rock status shall be maintained for a long time, as he is still going strong restlessly and setting up a career and a rock status that will not be an easy act to follow. The contribution he has had to rock history spans over four decades and continues to entertain fans and attract others to the genre, which makes Alice Cooper one of the most famous rock legends of all time.
