Alice Cooper Wants Johnny Depp to Join Him on Tour

Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp. One is a heavy-metal music legend, the other is one of Hollywood’s sweethearts. So, what do they have in common, then? The love for music. There is no need to go on about Alice Cooper’s career, which spans on over 4 decades. There is no point in rambling about Johnny Depp’s successful career, amazing talent and highly-awarded movies, either.

But when rumor has it that these two international icons will join forces, we cannot help but wonder what will that be like. In a recent interview with the newspaper The Sun, Alice Cooper confessed that he would love for Johnny Depp to join him on tour. The rockstar stated that Johnny did not come to Hollywood to pursue an acting career – he came there to play guitar, to be a full-time musician.

According to Alice Cooper, he always says to Depp: “If you really want to go out on tour, let me know and you can come with us.” He also said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he did“. We will have to wait and see if Johnny Depp will accept Cooper’s invitation, and now that he and Vanessa Paradise are over, we should not be surprised if he did, either.

Even though Johnny Depp turned to acting, he did not let go of his dream of becoming a musician. Few people know this, but the actor is an active member of the P band. He also had numerous musical collaborations with big names of the industry, including Alice Cooper. Depp also performed on stage with Marilyn Manson, bassist Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, and Gibby Haynes from Surfers Buthole.

Depp and Cooper have performed together during a private concert in London, England, which took place earlier in June at the 100 Club to promote their new movie, Dark Shadows. The two spent a lot of time together when shooting the movie, so it should not come as a big surprise if Depp accepts Cooper’s invitation and goes on tour with him. Imagine seeing rockstar Alice Cooper and Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp together on stage, during a whole show! We bet that it would be more than amazing.

After rocking it out at the 100 Club, Cooper and Alice paired up once again and performed together at the Dark Shadows post premiere after party at the El Capitan theater in Los Angeles, when they were also joined by the Aerosmith rockers.

Poison – My Favorite Song by Alice Cooper

Filed under: Alice Cooper Career and Songs - 24 Jul 2012  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

American rock singer, musician and songwriter Alice Cooper has always known how to delight my senses with his great songs. Everyone who has seen one of his concerts knows what I am talking about. With a career spanning over 4 decades, he has become the ultimate rockstar.

My favorite song by Alice Cooper is without a doubt Poison. The song was released as a single in 1989 and was featured on Trash, Cooper’s 18th studio album. Not long after its release, Poison became an instant hit and drove people crazy with its killer beat and deep lyrics.

The song was produced by Desmond Child, who also co-wrote it with Cooper and John McCurry. Poison speaks about a powerful love that feels like poison. Many people related to this song, this being one of the reasons why it peaked on the first positions of many charts, such as:

  • U.S. Billboard Hot 100: 7th position
  • UK Singles Chart: 2nd position
  • Australian Singles Chart: 3rd position
  • Austria Singles Chart: 3rd position
  • Norwegian Chart: 3rd position
  • Yugoslav Chart: 1st position

The initial music video for Poison showed Cooper being chained to a bizarre mechanism. While he was singing, a ghostly woman loomed over him. However, this video was censored and music channels were not allowed to show it during the day because the woman in the video only wore a blue thong. Those video portions were redone and the video is still played nowadays on many music channels.

Throughout the years, Poison was remixed and covered by various artists, such as German group Groove Coverage, Finnish singer Tarja Turunen, South African singer Nicholis Louw, and the bluegrass band Hayseed Dixie. However, no one manages to perform it like Alice Cooper, which is why this track remains one of the artists’ best songs ever. Any my favorite one, for that matter.

Here are the music lyrics for Poison:

Your cruel device,

Your blood like ice.

One look could kill,

My pain, your thrill.

I wanna love you, but I better not touch (don’t touch)

I wanna hold you, but my senses tell me to stop

I wanna kiss you, but I want it too much (too much)

I wanna taste you, but your lips are venomous poison

You’re poison runnin through my veins

You’re poison, I don’t wanna break these chains.

Your mouth, so hot

Your web, I’m caught

Your skin, so wet

Black lace on sweat

I hear you callin and it’s needles and pins (and pins)

I wanna hurt you just to hear you screaming my name

Don’t wanna touch you, but you’re under my skin (deep in)

I wanna kiss you, but your lips are venomous poison

You’re poison runnin through my veins

You’re poison, I don’t wanna break these chains

Poison

One look (one look), could kill (could kill),

My pain, your thrill.

I wanna love you, but I better not touch (don’t touch)

I wanna hold you, but my senses tell me to stop

I wanna kiss you, but I want it too much (too much)

I wanna taste you, but your lips are venomous poison

You’re poison runnin through my veins

You’re poison, I don’t wanna break these chains

Poison

I wanna love you, but I better not touch (don’t touch)

I wanna hold you, but my senses tell me to stop

I wanna kiss you, but I wanna too much (too much)

I wanna taste you, but your lips are venomous poison

Yeah

Well I don’t wanna break these chains

Poison

Runnin deep inside my veins

Burnin deep inside my veins

Poison

I don’t wanna break these chains

Rockstar Alice Cooper Covers Lady Gaga Track

Filed under: Alice Cooper News - 15 Jun 2012  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Alice Cooper is a music legend that will forever remain in the history of rock music as one of the greatest musicians of all time. He was and still is an inspiration for numerous rock bands that are just getting started. This is why it was quite shocking for the while world to hear 64-year old Cooper covering a track by the infamous pop star Lady Gaga. Lady Gage has given her seal of approval to the rockstar’s version of her hit single Born This Way. This happened at Cooper’s concert in Biloxi, Mississippi, on June 8, 2012. Even though the two share no similarities regarding the musical genre they approach, they are both theatrical and love giving extravagant performances.

In fact, their unusual strange performances represent one of their trademarks. Cooper motivated his decision by explaining that he prepared the song having the youth crowd in mind. Since the average age at one of his concerts is 15 to 25, he figured that he should give the crowd a song of their generation. He also stated that Born This Way could actually be a rock song and that it just needed a different attitude. In order to make the performance seem more real, he prepared his stage prop Frankenstein’s monster to look like Gaga. Cooper explained that he was not making fun of Lady Gaga, he just uses the 14-foot Frankenstein in the show and figured the audience will love it. And they loved it indeed. It may be hard to believe that Cooper’s fans would be appealed by the rockstar getting “inspired” by Gaga, since heavy rock and pop do not mingle.

It seems that when it comes to Alice Cooper, everything goes. In fact, Cooper and Gaga are friends in real life. In a recent interview, the rockstar stated that Gaga is his modern version because she understands the concept. She created a character called Lady Gaga and she wrote songs for her just like he writes songs for Alice. He added that just like him, she is a totally different person offstage. Lady Gaga is also an avid fan of heavy metal and hard rock music, which may be the reason behind their friendship. Alice Cooper continued by saying that Gaga can sing, write, and play the piano, so she is not just a queen of costumes. Still, hearing one of the legends of rock music covering a track by Lady Gaga is at least weird.
